Okay Then Mission Mini Comix How Would You Solve The Homeless Problem?
on September 7, 2017 at 9:49 amSo here’s the second part of our two mini-comic contribution to the past all comics issue of Street Sheet. I meant to publish these two in a row, but then some wacko band of white supremacists decided they wanted to pick a fight with San Francisco and our anti-Fascist mini comic got publishing priority. While in the first installment, I wanted to take a look at the city’s past cruel and failed strategies for dealing with homelessness, in this comic, Mikey took the tactic of exploring the underlining issues that cause homelessness and set forth some as of yet untried solutions. Which is always an important distinction to take…
I remember during the awesome multi-level art installation Streetopia (of which we contributed comics to the book), Erica Lyle stressed the importance of stating what we (as a community) were for, rather than letting what we were against define us. So while it’s important to point out the errors of the past, so as to hopefully (as unlikely as that is) avoid repeating them, it’s equally important to put forth what we think the right solution is. That’s why these two comics work so great in succession. One goes over the past and history, highlighting what doesn’t work, and this one outlines the problems and solutions we can work towards in the future.
Oh yeah, this one was written by Mikey, who drew the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th panels, Rio drew the 3rd panel, W.A. Silver drew the 4th and 5th and Kate Silver drew the 6th.
